KEY MESSAGES

Updated at 1224 PM CDT Sun Apr 19 2026

- Temperatures will remain cooler-than-normal through Monday night with a warming trend throughout the week.

- There is very little chance of rain through Thursday. Middle Tennessee will enjoy plenty of sunshine the next several days.

- A more unsettled weather pattern will emerge by Friday, with rain chances lasting through next weekend and into the following week.

SHORT TERM

(Rest of today through Monday) Issued at 1056 AM CDT Sun Apr 19 2026

Middle Tennessee is enjoying abundant sunshine and much cooler weather today following Saturday's cold frontal passage. We will enjoy cooler-than-normal temperatures for another day and a couple more nights.

LONG TERM

(Monday Night through next Sunday) Issued at 1056 AM CDT Sun Apr 19 2026

Tomorrow night, a surface ridge will slide across the region, so that we'll be back into our familiar warm pattern beginning Tuesday afternoon, with progressively warmer temperatures until the end of the week. A more unsettled weather pattern looks to develop by Friday, with rain chances lasting through next weekend and into the following week. At this time, long-range QPF values suggest robust rainfall totals from Friday onward. However, given the grip the current drought has had on our weather pattern, the trend has consistently pointed toward diminishing QPF values and underperforming weather systems. (Even Thursday evening's high wind event produced no more rainfall than was forecast.) In the meantime, we are more than halfway through our traditional severe weather season with no severe weather in the forecast for the foreseeable future. Although we sorely need rainfall, it's hard to lament the quieter-than-usual severe storm output thus far.

AVIATION

(18Z TAFS) Issued at 1224 PM CDT Sun Apr 19 2026

VFR through the period across all Middle Tennessee airports. NW winds today with gusts 15-20 kts will become light/variable overnight. Winds become NNW late tomorrow morning at 5-10 kts but expect less gustiness with high pressure in the region.
