DISCUSSION
KEY MESSAGE 1: Minor coastal flooding possible along the South Carolina coast this evening.
Tidal anomaly has decreased by a few tenths of a foot since last evening given the developing offshore winds. However, winds will clock around to NNE this evening which is a much more favorable direction for positive departure. The big question is how much anomaly builds before the 10:30 pm high tide. We maintained the previous forecast of +0.8 ft anomaly and 7.3 ft MLLW peak tide level (Minor). A Coastal Flood Advisory will likely be needed.
AVIATION /18Z SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/
VFR. Gusty NNW winds will diminish around sunset.
Extended Aviation Outlook: Dry high pressure keeps VFR conditions in place through much of the coming week.
MARINE
A briefly period of enhanced NNE gradient expected through Monday morning as high pressure builds behind a cold front. 25 kt gusts this afternoon in Charleston Harbor and this afternoon/eve in the Charleston County nearshore waters necessitated a Small Craft Advisory issuance. Also maintained the Small Craft Advisory for the offshore GA waters until Monday afternoon to highlight a more prolonged period of 25 kt gusts and 4-6 ft seas.
Rip Currents: A Moderate Risk of rip currents remains in place for all beaches through Monday due to lingering swells, lingering astronomical factors, and strong longshore current.
