The next round of rain showers and thunderstorms continues to be shown in the short range models. In fact, a large swath of western Central Texas is likely (60-80% chance) to see some rainfall overnight tonight and into Monday. Rain totals appear to be in the 0.25" to 0.75" range for most locations south of the I-20 corridor. Isolated rainfall amounts nearing 1" to 1.25" are possible. Regarding temperatures, lows tonight are forecast to drop into the upper 40s to lower 50s. Highs tomorrow are forecast for the mid 50s to lower 60s.
LONG TERM
(Monday night through next Sunday) Issued at 108 PM CDT Sun Apr 19 2026
Monday evening, a large upper level low will be centered offshore California, keeping West Central Texas in southwest flow aloft. Models indicate an upper level shortwave trough tracking across the area Monday night into Tuesday. This will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms to the area (mainly across our southern and eastern counties) Monday night into Tuesday morning. Low to medium (20-60%) rain chances are forecast through this period. Rain chances will gradually decrease Tuesday afternoon, with all activity shifting east of the area by Tuesday night. Highs on Tuesday will be below normal, in the mid 60s to lower 70s.
Expect warming temperatures Wednesday into next weekend as weak upper level ridging develops across the region. Highs on Wednesday will be in the upper 70s to mid 80s. Highs on Thursday will mainly be in the 80s, except across our northwest counties where highs in the lower 90s are forecast. Highs through the weekend will generally be in the 80s with overnight lows in the upper 50s to mid 60s.
