Impacts
Difficult driving conditions, especially for larger vehicles traveling along roads with crosswinds. Light, unsecured objects may become airborne.
What to do
A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speeds of between 30 and 40 mph are expected, or wind gusts of between 40 and 58 mph. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
In addition, strong winds over desert areas could result in briefly lowered visibilities in blowing dust or blowing sand. Use extra caution.

Wind Advisory Today

A Wind Advisory will be in effect through early this afternoon, as easterly winds will increase across southcentral AZ early this morning with gusts reaching 20-35 mph in the lower deserts and up to 40-50 mph across the foothills and higher terrain areas. Localized blowing dust will be possible, particularly in the more prone areas to the east/southeast of the Phoenix Metro, and lofted dust may then be carried further west producing hazy conditions over a wider area.
