Issued by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
Dry brush and leaf litter are very dry in the North Carolina foothills and Piedmont, even following the minimal rainfall which occurred this morning. Relative humidity will fall below 30 percent this afternoon and winds will continue to gust above 25 mph. Given the dry vegetation, outdoor fires will be able to spread quickly once started, increasing the danger of wildfires.
Additionally, Monday will be another very dry day with gusty winds, so expect worsening fire weather conditions across much of North Carolina.
A statewide burn ban is in effect for North Carolina.
