At 254 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Cottonwood Valley, or 26 miles north of Limon, moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.

Locations impacted include... Last Chance, Cottonwood Valley and Woodlin School.

Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.

Scattered thunderstorms will develop this afternoon, particularly for the rural plains, where some will become strong to severe between 3pm and 9pm. The strongest storms will be capable of producing large hail as well as torrential rainfall. Elsewhere, including for the mountains and urban corridor, coverage will be more isolated in nature, with some areas staying dry.
