What
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where
A portion of east central Kentucky, including the following counties, Bath and Montgomery.
When
Until 900 PM EDT.
Impacts
Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
Additional Details
- At 554 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Mount Sterling, Owingsville, Jeffersonville, Howards Mill, Stepstone, Ewington, Flat Creek, Gatewoods Station, Coons Station, Upper Spencer, Lower Spencer, Stoops, Peeled Oak, Oggs Station, Kendall Springs, Walkers Crossing, Crooks, Judy, Preston and Hope.
What to Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Portions of east central, northeast, south central, and southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, in east central Kentucky, Bath, Elliott, Estill, Fleming, Menifee, Montgomery, Powell and Rowan. In northeast Kentucky, Johnson and Martin. In south central Kentucky, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne and Whitley. In southeast Kentucky, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike and Wolfe.

Until 2 AM EDT Wednesday.
Impacts
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
Additional Details

There is an Enhanced (Level 3/5) Risk for severe thunderstorms in locations north of the Hal Rogers Parkway/Highway 80 corridors today. Locations further to the south are under a Slight (Level 2/5) Risk. There could be multiple rounds of activity through tonight, but the most likely timing for severe weather is in the afternoon and evening hours. All severe weather hazards are possible, but the main concern is for damaging wind gusts within a line of prefrontal storms this evening.
