High risk of rip currents.

Where

In Ohio, Lake and Ashtabula Lakeshore Counties. In Pennsylvania, Northern Erie County.

Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

Impacts

Wind and wave action will cause currents on the lakeshore. Swimmers should not enter the water. Currents can carry swimmers away from shore through a sand bar and along structures extending out into the lake.

What to Do

Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.

  • Stay off of rocks and jetties due to dangerous conditions
  • Stay out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions, and stay near occupied lifeguard towers 
  • Keep small children in sight and within arm’s reach at all times.

Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are likely today. The greatest potential for strong to severe thunderstorms will be this afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts and large hail are the main threats, although there is a low tornado risk. Early day showers and storms may inhibit thunderstorm development in the afternoon, so stay tuned for updates!
