The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for... Central Sevier County in central Utah...Specifically for Lower Sigurd Canyon and areas adjacent...
* Until 600 PM MDT.
* At 429 PM MDT, UDOT reported that after crossing HW 24 in Lower Sigurd Canyon, the flash flood is continuing to move downstream towards areas adjacent to Lower Sigurd Canyon. Between 0.5 and 1.25 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.
SOURCE...UDOT reported.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of normally dry washes, urban areas, highways.

What to Do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.
Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.

A Flash Flood Warning means that dangerous flooding is expected or already happening. Flash flooding can develop in hours or minutes, so take protective action now.
- If you are in a low-lying or flood prone area, move to higher ground immediately.
- Stay off bridges over fast-moving water, and away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams.
- Never walk, swim, or drive through flood waters or flooded roads.
- If you are trapped in a building, move to the highest floor and call 911. Go to the roof only if necessary.
- If your vehicle is trapped in rapidly moving water, stay inside. If water is rising inside the vehicle, move to the roof and signal for help.

A portion of Utah, including the following areas, Castle Country, Central Mountains, Eastern Juab/Millard Counties, San Rafael Swell, Sanpete Valley, Sevier Valley, Wasatch Plateau/Book Cliffs, Western Millard and Juab Counties, Bryce Canyon Country, Capitol Reef National Park and Vicinity, Glen Canyon Recreation Area/Lake Powell, South Central Utah, Southern Mountains, Upper Sevier River Valleys, Western Canyonlands, Lower Washington County, Southwest Utah and Zion National Park.

Impacts
Excessive rainfall may result in flooding of slot canyons, normally dry washes, slick rock areas, recent burn scars including Forsyth, France Canyon, Cottonwood, Silver King, and Monroe Canyon, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

A Flood Watch is in effect for much of central and southern Utah on Tuesday. Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon will be capable of producing heavy rainfall that can lead to flash flooding especially for normally dry washes, slot canyons, and recent burn scars. Those planning to head outdoors should reconsider plans, and those living in these areas should have multiple ways to receive warnings.
