99 Years Ago...VT's Historical ALL-TIME Flood

Created by the NWS Burlington WFO

99 Years Ago (November 3-4, 1927) The combination of a deep cold front that tapped into the remnants of a Tropical Storm, which originated near Cuba, delivered copious amounts of rainfall across Vermont after a saturated month of October. The landscape across VT in 1927 was mainly farmland (less trees than now), vulnerable for tremendous rainfall runoff and historical flooding. http://www.weather.gov/media/btv/events/1927Flood.pdf

Slide includes images of flooding and a map of observed rainfall (4 to 8+ inches) that occurred on November 3-4, 1927. http://www.weather.gov/media/btv/events/1927Flood.pdf
