DISCUSSION
Issued at 133 AM CST Wed Nov 4 2026
Mostly sunny skies and light westerly winds to prevail over the region today. Meanwhile early morning satellite water vapor imagery shows a healthy PV wave over northern Nevada moving eastward. This system will eject from the Rockies late tonight with modest lift generating rain showers over southwest Kansas. This system will continue to move east across Kansas with rain showers spreading over south central and southeast Kansas during the day on Thursday. Dry weather to follow for Friday as briefing upper level ridging influences the region.
GFS model/GEFS ensembles show a weather system deepening and ejecting southeast from the Rockies across western Kansas into Oklahoma for the weekend. Moisture will be lacking and remain well south of the region, therefore the system should move across the central plains with little to no precipitation. The dry weather pattern looks to continue into next week with a gradual warming trend expected as upper level ridging re-establishes itself over Kansas.
