- Chance of showers and thunderstorms early Thursday morning over mainly the far northeast
- Cool weather Thursday thru Sunday with highs in the mid 50s to around 60
SHORT TERM
(Tonight through Thursday night) Issued at 1142 PM CST Tue Nov 3 2026
Evening IR/WV satellite imagery showing short wave ridging moving east from the southern and centtal rockies towards the high plains behind the departing trough now moving into the midwest. Some fog potential overnight with light and variable winds expected thru morning and temps close to the dewpoint at this hour. Fog should remain patchy enough to preclude adviories overnight. Next short wave trough sliding to the southeast over the Sierra Nevada region will move quickly into the southern Rockies Wednesday. This system will provide the forcing mainly in the left front exit region of a 70kt mid level jet streak for precipitation. The mid level cold pocket associated with this shortwave will help promote instability on the order of 1000 j/kg or less of CAPE. These factors will contribute to some shower and thunderstorm activity moving from Utah across southern CO on Wednesday and then into sw KS and the OK Panhandle early Thur morning. There is a chance for some locally heavy rainfall amounts with the thunderstorms Thu morning....mainly in Beaver County OK. The surface cold front will move through the panhandles Thur and high temps will only be in the lower to mid 50s. After the Wednesday system departs then this cool air mass hangs around through the weekend with high temps only in the mid to upper 50s to around 60 thru Sunday.
LONG TERM
(Friday through next Tuesday) Issued at 1142 PM CST Tue Nov 3 2026
Fall weather will continue with mostly dry conditions expected. Temperatures should rebound into the lower to middle 60s by early next week.
AVIATION
(00Z TAFS) Issued at 531 PM CST Tue Nov 3 2026
Surface high pressure passing to the south of the CWA will leave light and variable winds overnight with just a few high clouds. By morning expecting the possibility of some patchy fog but at this time think the terminals will not be impacted significantly. Fog should burn off quickly after sunrise. Winds will be from the south- southwest Wed morning and into the afternoon at about 10-15kt.
