SHORT TERM

Another quiet day is expected across west-central Texas. Northwest flow aloft will become westerly by this afternoon as an upper level low moves southeast from western Colorado into the Texas Panhandle by Thursday morning. This will cause surface pressure falls to our north. As a result, light and variable winds tonight will turn around to the south by this afternoon at 5 to 15 MPH under sunny skies. Highs will average a degree or two warmer today, generally in the low to mid 70s, and lows tonight mainly in the lower 50s.

LONG TERM

(Thursday night through next Wednesday) Issued at 1130 PM CST Tue Nov 3 2026

An upper-level trough over the Plains will push a surface cold front through the area on Thursday, bringing little to no chance for precipitation but some cooler temperatures to the area. Another upper-level disturbance will enter the area on Saturday bringing a slight chance of scattered showers for the southern half of the area. Models then keep West Central Texas under drier conditions from Saturday night onward through the middle of next week. High temperatures will generally remain in the 60s Friday and through much of the weekend, then gradually warm back into the 70s for the first half of next week. Overnight lows are expected to remain in the mid 540s to lower 50s through the long term forecast.
