Impacts
Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding.

- At 912 AM CDT, local law enforcement and automated gauges indicated that flooding continues across the county this morning due to 3 to 6 inches of rain that occurred last night, with the flooding impacts becoming more concentrated along the Turkey and Viola rivers moving into the afternoon and overnight. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area this afternoon and evening. - Some locations experiencing flooding include... West Union, Fayette, Elgin, Clermont, Maynard, Hawkeye, Arlington, Waucoma, Wadena, Westgate, St. Lucas, Randalia, Donnan, Douglas, Albany, Volga River State Park, Highway 93 And County W 14, County Roads W 42 And B 40, Eldorado and Brainard. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Much of the watch area has seen 2 to upwards of 7 inches of rain over the last 24 hours. As this water continues to route through the system, additional rises on rivers and flooding of roadways, parks, and low elevation areas is likely over the next 6 to 12 hours. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches if possible through this evening.

Heavy Rain Potential this Afternoon & Evening

Additional rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall occur this afternoon into tonight. While widespread heavy rain is expected towards east-central Iowa and far southern Wisconsin, confidence in the extent and impacts of the rain begins to decrease as one travels further north and west. However, there have been some trends in the forecast that would support renewed thunderstorm development as far north as I-90 later this afternoon, which is farther north that earlier forecast. Rainfall amounts with these northern storms could still easily reach 2-3 inches, but these higher rainfall totals will be more scattered in nature. Bottom line, much of the area is saturated and additional rainfall, even a small amount, can lead to renewed flooding concerns. Stay weather aware this afternoon into tonight!
