The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Iowa
Turkey River at Garber affecting Clayton County.
Turkey River at Elkader affecting Clayton County.
The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Iowa
Turkey River at Spillville affecting Winneshiek County.
.Much of the Turkey River Basin from Garber upstream through Spillville received 2 to 5 inches of rain in the last 24 hours. The latest forecasts brings the crest at Elkader lower due to lower forecast precipitation amounts this evening as well as a slower routing from upstream locations. Much of the uncertainty in these river forecasts stems from uncertainty in how fast the water will flow downstream with time.

Impacts
At 11.0 feet, Water begins to impact lower portions of campsites at Riverside Park Campground. Additional water begins to wrap around portions of Riverside Park, reaching the baseball field bleachers.

- At 2:30 PM CDT Saturday the stage was 5.2 feet. - Bankfull stage is 8.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late tonight to a crest of 10.6 feet early tomorrow afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage late tomorrow evening. - Flood stage is 9.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 10.7 feet on 03/30/1960. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
What to Do
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Much of the watch area has seen 2 to upwards of 7 inches of rain over the last 24 hours. As this water continues to route through the system, additional rises on rivers and flooding of roadways, parks, and low elevation areas is likely over the next 6 to 12 hours. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches if possible through this evening.

Heavy Rain Potential this Afternoon & Evening

Additional rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall occur this afternoon into tonight. While widespread heavy rain is expected towards east-central Iowa and far southern Wisconsin, confidence in the extent and impacts of the rain begins to decrease as one travels further north and west. However, there have been some trends in the forecast that would support renewed thunderstorm development as far north as I-90 later this afternoon, which is farther north that earlier forecast. Rainfall amounts with these northern storms could still easily reach 2-3 inches, but these higher rainfall totals will be more scattered in nature. Bottom line, much of the area is saturated and additional rainfall, even a small amount, can lead to renewed flooding concerns. Stay weather aware this afternoon into tonight!
