What
Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible due to thunderstorms.
Where
Portions of east central California, including the following areas, Greater Lake Tahoe Area and Mono County and western Nevada, including the following areas, Greater Lake Tahoe Area, Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden Area and Mineral and Southern Lyon Counties.
When
Until 11 PM PDT this evening.
Impacts
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams, urban areas, burn scars, and areas near steep terrain.
Additional Details
- Deeper monsoonal moisture combined with daytime heating will produce scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Slower moving storms could redevelop over similar areas, increasing the risk for heavy rainfall capable of producing flash flooding. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

At 319 PM PDT, strong thunderstorms are ongoing across western Nevada and portions of the eastern Sierra, increasing coverage northward throughout the afternoon.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.
Locations impacted include... Reno, Carson City, South Lake Tahoe, Fallon, Lovelock, Tahoe City, Kings Beach, Gardnerville, Virginia City, Boca Reservoir, Twin Lakes, Lahontan Reservoir, Incline Village, Alpine Meadows, Olympic Valley, Stampede Reservoir, Bodie, Benton, Bridgeport, and Prosser Creek Reservoir.
What to Do
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
