Nueces & Frio Flooding

The Nueces River at Cotulla is currently in Major flood stage with a crest near 28 ft expected overnight. The Frio River at Tilden is expected to enter into minor flood stage early Tuesday and cresting in Major Flood Stage later Tuesday.

For the Frio River at Tilden, the river continues to sharply rise (21ft), and is expected to rise into Minor Flood Stage (22 ft) in the next few hours, with a crest in Major flood stage (28 ft) early Wednesday morning before falling back to Minor Thursday. Two hydrographs show observed and forecast river stages: the Nueces River graph shows a sharp rise peaking around 26 feet on July 21–22 before gradually receding; the Frio River graph shows a current reading of 21.3 feet rising sharply to a peak near 28.1 feet on July 22. A note states the forecast is based on upstream crests and maximum discharge values.
